The following classes are open to everyone. All are invited.
The Chapel Bible Study Group, led by Calvin Wenger, meets in the Chapel. They are currently immersed in an intensive study of the New Testament. In August the study of the Gospel of Mark will conclude, and begin the Gospel of Luke.
The Thoughtful Life Class, meeting in Rooms 162-163, features stimulating resource persons who lead discussion in a variety of topics.
August 1 – My Journey in the Church of the Brethren, by Phil Carlos Archbold, retired pastor of
Brooklyn 1st COB and Annual Conference Moderator in 2001.
August 8 – Handling Differences in a Christian Way, by Donald Robinson, retired pastor of
Reading 1st COB, former Juniata College Trustee, and skilled personal, marriage, and
family counselor.
August 15 - Talk Back Session on the four-church visitations.
August 22 – Report from our youth who attended National Youth Conference 2010.
Theme: More Than Meets the Eye.
August 29 – Report from our Delegates to the 2010 COB Annual Conference in Pittsburg.
Theme: Taking Jesus Seriously.
This group likes to start early, about 8:55, so plan to arrive on time.
The Nesters Bible Study Group, meeting in Room 170, explores the basics of faith. In early August the group will be ending the study of a “parenting” book. Later in the month they will begin a New Testament Bible Study, with a book to be determined: either one of the Gospels or First Corinthians. The One Another group, coordinated by Linda Husted, meets in Pastor Rill’s office. In August the group will begin a study of Richard Foster’s Celebration of Disciplines. Although the group is small, they welcome anyone interested in joining the discussion is welcome.
