Lancaster Church of the Brethren celebrates diversity within our church community, and offers several distinct styles of worship. The services held each Sunday are as follows:
At 8:00 AM an informal worship service is held in the chapel. This service is enjoyed by a small group of people who want to meet early in the day. They seem to enjoy the more intimate nature of the service in a small sanctuary without the more formal trappings. Many of these people stay on for the Sunday School hour held at 9:00 AM.
At 9:00 and 10:15 AM The Morning Psalm Contemporary Worship Services are held in the Family Life Center. This service includes a praise band, worship teams, drama, praise and meditative songs, and biblical preaching. The worship is intended to reach the hearts of people and draw us nearer to Christ in our spiritual and daily life. The 9:00 Contemporary Service is designed for worshipers who wish to attend a worship service during the Sunday School hour.
At 10:15 AM The Traditional worship service is held in the sanctuary. This service features the choir, pipe organ, paraments, robes, candles, and liturgy of traditional worship. The worshipers in this service like the more formal approach to worship.
At 10:15 AM The Maranatha Multicultural Fellowship meets in the Upper Room (former rooms 201-202). This service is a new service focused on bilingual worship (Spanish & English).
Dinka Worship: Our Christian brothers from Southern Sudan routinely gather in the Chapel at 11:30 a.m. for a Sunday worship time in Dinka, their native tongue. They have continued their worship services once a month and have invited the other dozen or so Sudanese refugees in Lancaster to join them. Guests are also welcome. It is a joy for them to gather for worship in the language and with the hymns of their culture. May the joyful noise they make to the Lord continue to bless their lives as they work to make their way in this new land. |
